CHANGE
When
first learning to drive the tendency is to be reactive rather than proactive.
Being reactive means waiting to see what others are doing before deciding
what to do next. We teach by objectives in a flexible driving style which
brings out our students' personalities. Maintaining a disciplined approach
to training is very important in progressing safely and swiftly into becoming
a proactive, problem solving driver who can concentrate on solutions and
easily perceive the risk in traffic situations ahead.
SKILL
DEVELOPMENT
The skill of being
a problem solving driver is strengthened throughout the course and it
often enables our students to control difficult driving situations through
off-centre positioning and gentle adjustments of speed. This controls
the space around the car, together with intelligent use of brake light
signals, the horn and headlamps. Planned driving that makes safe and intelligent
use of road space.
SPACE
AND TIME MANAGEMENT
We
teach our students how to read the road like a detective novel looking
for clues to assist in making the right decisions and help decide the
best responses. Improved driver awareness makes the driving more enjoyable
and safer, building confidence that improves their efficiency and performance.
Awareness is the key factor, anticipating the unexpected means no big
surprises for a Chequered Flag taught driver.
